What is body butter, and how is it different from lotion?

Body butter is a thick and luxurious skincare product typically made from natural ingredients such as Shea butter, Cocoa butter, or Mango butter to name a few. It is designed to seal in moisture and nourish the skin. So, it is more beneficial to use on damp skin. The texture of body butter is usually creamy and rich, and it melts upon contact with the skin, making it easy to apply.

The main difference between body butter and lotion lies in their consistency and moisturizing properties. Body butter contains a higher concentration of oils and fats, making it much thicker and more emollient than lotion. Due to its richness, body butter provides intense nourishment and is especially beneficial for dry and eczema prone skin.

On the other hand, lotion is a lighter, more water-based product that absorbs quickly into the skin. It contains a lower concentration of oils and has a more liquid texture, making it ideal for normal skin types. Using a lotion or water based product before a body butter is a great way to get extra moisture and hydration into the skin.

In summary, body butter is a nourishing thicker product, suitable for dry and eczema prone skin, while lotion is lighter and better suited for normal skin types. The choice between the two depends on individual skin needs and preferences.
